Kenyan Federation say no interfering

Kenyan Volleyball Federation says they won’t interfere with the selection process of the Kenyan national Volleyball BUT say they want a young team to start moulding for the future….

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) has promised not to interfere with the selection of the final team for the Federation of International Volleyball World Cup, in Japan next month.

The team of 12 will be named out of the provisional squad of 15 that has been training for the last three weeks at Moi International Sports Centre camp on Wednesday. KVF assistant chairman Martin Makokha, who doubles up as the team manager said it was the prerogative of the technical bench to select the national team.

Kenya’s womens volleyball team has received a bonus from the government for making the World Cup.

The Japan-bound women’s volleyball team of Kenya has been rewarded and honoured for qualifying for the World Cup by the President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Mwai Kibaki.
President Kibaki presented the team with 1 million Kenyan shillings (US$15,000) for winning the African Cup of Nations in Nairobi recently - a result which put the team among the world’s elite for the World Cup. Read more World Cup

Kenyans recieve boost for World Cup

Kenyan Volleyball team recieves a boost as star player comes back from injury.

International right attacker Doris Palanga has recovered from a hip injury and is expected to join the women’s national volleyball team.

The Kenyans will feature at the World Cup championship slated for Osaka, Japan, from November 2 to 16.

Palanga, who turns out for Kenya Commercial Bank in the national league, has experienced a recurrent hip problem for more than three months.

“Palanga has been having a disjointed hip bone even before the All Africa Games in Algiers, Algeria, but I am happy that she has recovered,” said national team head coach Sammy Kirongo.

Kenyan Womens National Team start World Cup training

Kenya has begun a training camp in preparation for the Womens World Cup. They qualified by winning the African Championships, gaining the only spot available. With a team full of experience, and a few new faces added to those who played in the qualifiers, everyone has to earn their spot in the team.
