Kenya loses to Poland

Kenya lost its fifth straight Federation of International Volleyball World Cup match 0-3 (12-25, 10-25, 15-25) to Poland at Sendai City Gymnasium in Japan.
The first set was equally contested in the opening minutes with only two points separating the teams at the first technical time out in favour of Poland.
Inspirational attacker Dorcas Ndasaba, who proved the biblical corner stone, played her heart out with characteristic lightening attacks but the Polish
attackers Maria Liktoras, Agata Sawicka, Mariola Zenik used well their height to check her.
Kenya lost concentration as from 9-8 and allowed Poland to open a seven-point lead at halftime before claiming the set 25-12 in the tie on Wednesday.
Poland came into the second set in full attack and Kenya were trailing 5-8 at the first technical time out with four of the points from Ndasaba.
Poland stretched the lead to 16-6 at the second technical time out and even the introduction of towering Lydia Maiyo and Mercy Moim for Janet Wanja did not stop the Polish winning the set 25-10.
Things were same in the third set as Poland led Kenya throughout with good displays from Liktoras and Agatta who were outstanding in the forecourt. Poland effortlessly won the set 25-15 to seal the match.
Ndasaba was overworked throughout the match as she played the major role of guiding younger teammates most of whom are making their World Cup debut.
Poland coach Bonnitta Marco had lots of praise for Ndasaba describing†her as the best player in the Kenyan team.
Marco said: “She (Ndasaba) played very well. Her physical strength and evasive spikes are exciting.”
