Dangerous Thai’s may prove a handful at World Cup

Thailand qualified for the World Cup after finishing third at this years Asian Champs behind China and Japan. In the process beating some quality opposition in Korea, Kazakhstan and Chinese Taipei.

Tokyo, October 10, 2007: The Thais are no longer a surprise.
With a third-place finish in the recent Asian Women’s Championship, Thailand qualified for the World Cup for the first time and will bring their own special brand of volleyball to Japan.
Similar in style to the Chinese Taipei team that played so well at the World Championship last year, the Thais can trap bigger and more powerful opponents with their consistent, patient and error-free volleyball.
They may lack a big hitter to single-handedly demolish a rival, but they also have no weaknesses. In terms of technique, physique and mentality they are well balanced, and possess players whose technical level is above average.
This style is the result of a strong volleyball culture, as most of the players started at a young age in middle school. Just like in Japan, they know what volleyball is all about, and, with the international experience they have gained, they know how to win a game. More World Cup 2007
